TenXsys offers a long-life (up to 5,000 GPS fixes per battery) GPS tracking monitor in a small package.  The monitor can be worn on a belt.  This has been used for capturing location data for relatively long periods.  The data is downloadable from a memory card and the unit is configurable from software.
